I am saddened by your booklet – if only because it expresses, more concisely than I could, what I have been saying for the last 6 years. It is vital that we show up every last wasteful NHS initiative so that as doctors we cannot be threatened by the smear that we are only protecting vested interests. It has become usual for NHS decisions to be made by others than doctors without consultation. We must fight that every step of the way.

Sadly, when I raise my concerns re the service we receive from our NHS GP practice, my MP writes back to tell me that Andrew Lansley’s reforms are needed.

Frankly, I hope that the private sector is NOT abolished – where can we go when we receive rubbish advice from our GP, tailored to costs of commissioning? Latest advice came from a Locum (GPs were all off in ‘meetings’ re new Health Bill)
who advised me to take pain killers until ‘my’ GP was available in six weeks.
